Welcome

I am an applied and mixed-methods Sociologist with research and teaching interests in Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Energy, Rural Sociology, Occupational Health and Safety, Global Change and Development, and Appalachian Studies. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Radford University.  Much of my personal research examines extractive industries (e.g. coal) and their impact on community, environment, and workers. Most recently my research agenda has centered around the examination of the resurgence of Coal Workers Pneumoconiosis (i.e. Black Lung) among coal miners in Central Appalachia.
